About This Tour

This route follows the southern coastline through four very distinct places. Madurai for the Meenakshi Temple, Rameswaram for one of the four holiest Hindu pilgrimage centres, Kanyakumari for the meeting of three seas, and finally two nights at Kovalam simply to enjoy the beach.

All South India departures run in an air-conditioned private vehicle sized to your group, across four accommodation categories. Arrival is at Madurai airport and departure from Trivandrum. Please note that entry for large vehicles is restricted within Rameswaram town.

Day by day, here is exactly how Coastal Splendors unfolds — where you travel, what you see and where you spend each night. 5 nights, 6 days, Madurai (1N) → Rameswaram (1N) → Kanyakumari (1N) → Kovalam (2N).

Day 1, Madurai
The Athens of the East and the cradle of Tamil culture, where the creation of epics and edifices was actively encouraged. Visit the Sri Meenakshi Temple with its magnificent sculpture, soaring gopurams and hall of a thousand pillars, along with the Thirumalai Nayak Mahal and the Mariamman Teppakulam tank. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2, Rameswaram
Rameswaram is one of the four most sacred Hindu pilgrim centres. The Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple, dedicated to Lord Rama, has magnificent sculpture and spectacular corridors. Overnight at the hotel. Please note that entry for large vehicles such as buses is restricted within Rameswaram town.
Day 3, Kanyakumari
Travel to Kanyakumari at the southernmost tip of the Indian mainland, where the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean meet. Visit the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, the Thiruvalluvar Statue and the Kanyakumari Temple, and stay for the celebrated sunset. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 4, Kovalam
Continue up the coast to Kovalam, one of India's best-known beach destinations, with its crescent bays and lighthouse. The afternoon is at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5, Kovalam at leisure
A full free day at Kovalam for the beach, an Ayurvedic treatment, or a short trip into Trivandrum. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 6, Departure from Trivandrum
After breakfast, transfer to Trivandrum airport for your onward journey.
