Vizag & Araku Travel Guide: Routes, Costs and the Best Time to Go

The Vizag coastline, the Borra Caves and the coffee slopes of Araku. This guide sets out what Vizag & Araku actually offers, what a trip
there costs, when to go, and how we run it — written from the routes we operate
ourselves rather than from a brochure.

Why Vizag & Araku is worth your leave

Vizag gives you the Bay of Bengal at RK Beach, a submarine museum you can walk inside, and a hilltop park at Kailasagiri with the sea on three sides. Then the railway climbs into the Eastern Ghats to Araku. One of our most popular student and group departures, with all meals included.

Common questions before booking

What is the difference between MAP and AP meal plans?

MAP covers daily breakfast and dinner. AP covers breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner. Our North Bengal, Dooars, Purulia and Sundarban departures usually run on AP, so you are never hunting for a restaurant after a long day out.

Do you book train or flight tickets?

Air and rail fare sit outside our package rates, but we are always glad to advise on the most convenient trains and flights from your departure city.

Can you customise an itinerary?

Yes, and we do it every week. Tell us your dates, the kind of stay you prefer and roughly what you would like to spend, and we build the route around that.

Planning your dates

Peak windows — the Pujas, December, and the Kashmir tulip season — fill six to
eight weeks ahead, and offbeat homestays have very few rooms between them. If your
dates are fixed, talk to us early. If they are flexible, tell us and we will
suggest the week that gives you the best weather and the best rate.
