Kalimpong Travel Guide: Routes, Costs and the Best Time to Go

Cloud-wrapped ridges, orange orchards and our own homestays above the Teesta valley. This guide sets out what Kalimpong actually offers, what a trip
there costs, when to go, and how we run it — written from the routes we operate
ourselves rather than from a brochure.

Why Kalimpong is worth your leave

Kalimpong is our home ground. We hold our own associate homestay network across the ridge and the offbeat hamlets above it, which is why we can promise clean rooms, home-cooked food and a family who knows you are coming. Three itineraries run here, from a classic town break to a four-day offbeat retreat.

What a trip costs

We run 3 itineraries here.
The lowest published rate is ₹ 3,999 per head. Every figure below is
per person and includes accommodation, the stated meal plan, private transport,
all sightseeing in the itinerary, and toll tax, parking and driver allowance.

A sample of the route

Taking Kalimpong Hill Holiday as an example —
NJP → Kalimpong → NJP, picking up at NJP and dropping at NJP:

  1. Day 1, NJP to Kalimpong — Pick-up from New Jalpaiguri and a scenic drive along the Teesta. Check in, rest, and spend the evening walking the town’s quiet upper streets. Dinner and overnight in Kalimpong.
  2. Day 2, Kalimpong sightseeing — A full day covering the town’s best-loved spots — the monasteries, the famous flower and cactus nurseries, the viewpoints looking down the valley, and the old colonial-era buildings that give Kalimpong its distinct character. All meals included.
  3. Day 3, Return to NJP — A relaxed breakfast, then the drive back down to New Jalpaiguri for your onward journey.

Common questions before booking

How do I book a tour with Sanjhbati Tourism?

Call or WhatsApp 7872349359, or write to travel@sanjhbatitourism.com with your destination, dates and number of travellers. We send a full itinerary and quotation, usually the same day. A booking advance confirms your rooms and vehicle.

Are prices quoted per person or for the whole group?

Per person, always. Most packages carry a minimum group size, and the per-head cost falls as the group grows — on our eleven-day South India route it drops from ₹40,100 for two travellers to ₹26,200 for ten.

What does a package normally include?

Accommodation, the stated meal plan, private transport with an experienced driver, every sightseeing stop in the itinerary, and toll tax, parking and driver allowance. Each package page lists Included and Excluded in full.

Planning your dates

Peak windows — the Pujas, December, and the Kashmir tulip season — fill six to
eight weeks ahead, and offbeat homestays have very few rooms between them. If your
dates are fixed, talk to us early. If they are flexible, tell us and we will
suggest the week that gives you the best weather and the best rate.
