A sample of the route

Taking Andaman Glimpses as an example —
Port Blair (3N) + Havelock (1N), picking up at Port Blair and dropping at Port Blair:

  1. Day 1, Arrival at Port Blair — Arrive at Port Blair and transfer to your hotel. After lunch, visit Corbyn’s Cove Beach and the Cellular Jail. In the evening, witness the Sound and Light Show at the Cellular Jail, where the story of the Indian freedom struggle is brought alive. Overnight at Port Blair.
  2. Day 2, Port Blair to Havelock and Radhanagar Beach — Check out early and depart by inter-island ferry to Havelock Island, 57 kilometres by sea. Spend the afternoon at the world-famous Radhanagar Beach, or Beach Number 7 — fine white sand, turquoise blue water and a great deal of peace. Overnight at Havelock.
  3. Day 3, Kalapathar Beach and return to Port Blair — After breakfast, check out and proceed to Kalapathar Beach, a long stretch of white silky sand set against big black rocks beside the blue sea. The beach takes its name from the village and the black rocks along its coastline. Return to Port Blair for the night.
  4. Day 4, Ross Island and North Bay Coral Island — A full-day excursion to North Bay, or Coral Island, to see coral reefs and ornamental fish. Glass-bottom boat rides, snorkelling, jet ski and sea walking are available at your own cost. Continue to Ross Island, from where the British governed the Andaman and Nicobar Islands before Independence, and where deer, peacocks and a small naval museum now share the ruins. Overnight at Port Blair.

When to go

Common questions before booking

Are your homestays clean and safe for families?

They are properties we have visited ourselves and continue to work with season after season. Clean rooms, home-cooked food, and a family who knows you are coming.

Is there mobile network in the offbeat areas?

Patchy in the higher hamlets, and that is rather the point. Your homestay host and our local team stay reachable, and we share those numbers before you travel.

What should we pack for the hills?

Layers rather than one heavy coat, a windproof outer, comfortable walking shoes, and any regular medication. For high passes, add gloves and a warm cap even in summer.

Planning your dates

Peak windows — the Pujas, December, and the Kashmir tulip season — fill six to
eight weeks ahead, and offbeat homestays have very few rooms between them. If your
dates are fixed, talk to us early. If they are flexible, tell us and we will
suggest the week that gives you the best weather and the best rate.
