About This Tour

This is the offbeat-weighted itinerary. Two of the four nights are in villages you will not find on a standard tour — Sittong among its mandarin groves, and Dwaipani on the slope above the Teesta.

In between you pass Mangpu, where Rabindranath Tagore stayed and wrote, and the Lamahatta forest garden. Darjeeling itself still gets two nights, so Tiger Hill, Ghum Monastery, the zoo, Tenzing Rock and the ropeway are all covered before the drive down through Mirik.

Itinerary

Day by day, here is exactly how Darjeeling with Offbeat unfolds — 4 nights and 5 days, starting and ending at Bagdogra / NJP / Siliguri.

Day 1, Arrival, Sevoke and on to Sittong
Our representative will meet you at New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri or Bagdogra and the climb begins. You will stop at the Sevoke Kali Mandir above the Teesta, then Jogighat, the Ahaldara viewpoint and Namthing Pokhari, reaching the orange orchards of Sittong by late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at a Sittong homestay.
Day 2, Sittong, Mangpu and the Teesta view to Dwaipani
After breakfast, the I Love Sittong viewpoint and the village monastery, then the Teesta view on the road to Mangpu, where Rabindranath Tagore's bungalow still stands and is open to visitors. Carry on to Dwaipani for the night.
Day 3, Dwaipani to Darjeeling via Lamahatta, Takdah and Tinchuley
A slow day along the ridge. Lamahatta's forest garden and prayer-flag walk first, then the old cantonment villages of Takdah and Tinchuley, and finally the Batasia Loop where the toy train turns a full circle around the war memorial. Overnight at Darjeeling.
Day 4, Tiger Hill sunrise and Darjeeling town
An early start for Tiger Hill and first light on Kanchenjunga. Afterwards, Ghum railway station and Ghoom Monastery, the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Tenzing Rock, a working tea garden and the ropeway. The evening is free for the Mall. Overnight at Darjeeling.
Day 5, Darjeeling to NJP via Mirik
The descent runs through the Simana viewpoint on the Nepal border, the Gopaldhara tea estate and the Pashupati market, with a last stop at Mirik Lake. You will be dropped at New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri or Bagdogra, and the tour concludes with memories that stay with you long after.
