Delhi, Agra & Vrindavan Travel Guide: Routes, Costs and the Best Time to Go

The Taj Mahal, the temple towns of Braj and the monuments of Delhi. This guide sets out what Delhi, Agra & Vrindavan actually offers, what a trip
there costs, when to go, and how we run it — written from the routes we operate
ourselves rather than from a brochure.

Why Delhi, Agra & Vrindavan is worth your leave

This route sets the Taj Mahal against something quite different — the temple towns of Mathura and Vrindavan, where the evening aarti draws crowds every day of the year — before finishing among the monuments of Delhi.

A sample of the route

Taking Agra, Mathura, Vrindavan and Delhi as an example —
Agra (1N) → Mathura / Vrindavan (1N) → Delhi (2N), picking up at Agra or Delhi and dropping at Delhi or Agra:

  1. Day 1, Arrival at Agra — Arrive at Agra and check in. Visit the Taj Mahal, best seen in the softer light of the late afternoon, followed by Agra Fort. Overnight at Agra.
  2. Day 2, Agra to Mathura and Vrindavan — After breakfast, drive to the Braj region. Visit the Krishna Janmabhoomi at Mathura, then continue to Vrindavan for the Banke Bihari Temple, the Prem Mandir and the ISKCON Temple. Stay for the evening aarti. Overnight at Mathura or Vrindavan.
  3. Day 3, Mathura to Delhi — Drive to Delhi and check in. Begin sightseeing with India Gate and the government buildings along Rajpath. Overnight at Delhi.
  4. Day 4, Delhi sightseeing — A full day covering the Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, the Lotus Temple and Akshardham as time permits, with an afternoon in the Delhi markets. Overnight at Delhi.

Common questions before booking

When is the best time for Purulia?

October to March, and especially the Puja season, when the Ayodhya Hills turn red and ochre and Turga and Bamni waterfalls run full.

What makes the Dooars good for student groups?

Tea garden, river, hill, jungle and the Bhutan border all sit within a short radius, so a three-day trip covers genuinely varied ground with short driving distances.

Do you cover Digha, Gangtok or Pelling?

We have operated custom departures to these. They are not yet standard packages with published rates, so please call 7872349359 and we will quote a tailored trip.

Planning your dates

Peak windows — the Pujas, December, and the Kashmir tulip season — fill six to
eight weeks ahead, and offbeat homestays have very few rooms between them. If your
dates are fixed, talk to us early. If they are flexible, tell us and we will
suggest the week that gives you the best weather and the best rate.
