Madurai first, for the Meenakshi Temple and its hall of a thousand pillars, and then straight up into the hills — two nights at Kodaikanal and two at Ooty. It is the most efficient way to combine temple architecture with hill station air.

Day 1, Madurai
The Athens of the East and the cradle of Tamil culture, where the creation of epics and edifices was actively encouraged. Visit the Sri Meenakshi Temple with its magnificent sculpture, soaring gopurams and hall of a thousand pillars, along with the Thirumalai Nayak Mahal and the Mariamman Teppakulam tank. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2, Kodaikanal
The name Kodaikanal means the gift of the forest. It is one of the most beautiful and least explored destinations in southern India, with intoxicating air, breathtaking scenery and a serenity that is hard to find in any other hill station. Visit Coaker's Walk, Green Valley View and the star-shaped lake. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3, Kodaikanal sightseeing
A second day around the star-shaped lake, the viewpoints and the surrounding shola forest. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 4, Ooty
Ooty is a picturesque landscape of deep forest, green meadows, vast tea gardens and tall eucalyptus trees. Visit the Botanical Garden, the tea estates and factories, and enjoy boating on Ooty Lake. Hiking and horse riding are also available here. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5, Ooty sightseeing
A further day among the tea estates and gardens of the Nilgiris. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 6, Departure from Coimbatore
After breakfast, transfer to Coimbatore airport for your onward journey.
